Cholla: The Painting Horse!
You've heard of paint horses... but Painting horses? Yes, Cholla (pronounced "choy-a") the Mustang/Quarter Horse mix uses a paintbrush to make artwork!

Cholla's art has been displayued in many galleries and featured in magazines, newspapers, and even on TV! His art has won awards, and he's rated as the fourth top-selling animal artist (there are elephants, a chimpanzee, and a dog that also paint!)

Renee Chambers, his owner, says that Cholla does all his own painting:
"Cholla's art is completely his own," Renee says, "I do not apply any paint to the paper, nor do I move the easel or rotate the paper at any time during his sessions. I do dip the artist bush in the paint for him as he tends to knock things over when he tries this on his own. He takes the brush from my hand and goes straight to the easel."

How did Renee know Cholla had the talent to become an equine artist? She noticed he liked holding things in his mouth.

Renee was out painting the fence and Cholla followered her around. Her hustband called out, "Why don't you get the horse to paint the fence?"... and Renee started providing Cholla with painting materials.
According to Renee, he loves it! Whenever he sees her bringing him the materials, he comes right over and gets ready to paint!

Harry: The Hairless Horse!

You may have heard of hairless dogs and cats... but hairless horses? Well, they do exist! Harry is a great example.
Harry was a Percheron gelding, 16.2 hands high, owned by Suzi Romine.

Suzi saw Harry as a foal (he had hair, and only small bald patches). He lost all his hair except for a little bit of mane and tail hair, and a few whiskers on his chin.

No one knows what caused Harry to be hairless... but other horses have been born without hair, too. There are historical accounts of draft horses without hair, and also pictures of Akhal-teke foals that are bald.

Huaso: Jumping over 8 feet!

How high is the highest a horse can jump? Huaso answered that question by setting a world record on Feb 5, 1949 by jumping 8 feet, 1 3/4 inches!

Thumbelina: The World's Smallest Horse!

Thumbelina is a miniature horse, and she's tiny-- she stands just 17 1/2 inches tall and weighs 57 pounds! She's actually a "dwarf"-- a small version of a miniature horse. She was born May 1, 2001.

She loves spending time with children and her owners set up the Thumbelina Charitable Foundation to help children's charities. She's already travelled over 27,000 miles to visit children in hospitals, riding centers, schools, group homes, shelters, and camps!

Thumberlina has her own tour trailer-- the ThumbyMobile, a 30-ft RV that was converted into a stable on wheels! The back area is Thumberlina's stall with a door, air conditioner, and loading ramp. Her handler sleeps on the couch nearby.
